United for Moms Expands Across the Region

This past May, United Way of Greater Central Michigan’s United for Moms collection drive once again demonstrated the incredible generosity and compassion of our communities. Created to celebrate mothers and support local women and families, United for Moms brings together individuals, businesses, organizations, and volunteers to collect essential baby items, personal care products, and household necessities for those who need them most.

A total of 13 nonprofit organizations received donations through this year’s collection drive. This year marked an exciting milestone for the initiative as we expanded our reach into Montcalm and Ionia Counties. Five new partner agencies received donations: Pregnancy Services of Ionia County, Relief After Violent Encounter (RAVE), Trinity Church Baby Pantry, Alpha Family Services, and Community Drawers.

In addition to those five new benefiting organizations, eight nonprofits across Gratiot and Isabella Counties received items as well: Child Advocacy – Gratiot County, Community Compassion Network Infant Pantry, Gratiot Community Personal Needs Pantry, Life Choices of Central Michigan, Pompeii Baby Pantry, Pregnancy Services of Gratiot County, RISE Advocacy, and The Care Store. Together, these organizations provide essential support to mothers, children, and families throughout our region, and the donated items will help them continue meeting critical needs throughout the year.

The response from the community was remarkable. Thanks to the generosity of donors, collection site partners, and volunteers, United for Moms collected 38,048 items with an estimated in-kind value of $24,771.28! From diapers, wipes, and formula to shampoo, soap, cleaning products, and other everyday essentials, these donations will help ease financial burdens and provide comfort, dignity, and support to local mothers and families.

We would also like to extend a special thank you to First Lady MacKinnon for serving as this year’s honorary chair. Her leadership and enthusiasm helped raise awareness for the initiative and inspired the Central Michigan University community to come together in support of mothers and families throughout our region.

United Way is grateful to every person, business, volunteer, and community partner who contributed to the success of this year’s campaign. Whether you donated items, hosted a collection site, volunteered your time, or helped spread the word, your support made a meaningful impact. Together, we are strengthening families, supporting mothers, and building a more caring and resilient community. Thank you for helping make United for Moms 2026 our most impactful year yet!
