Standing Together for Children
Every child deserves to grow up feeling safe, supported, and loved. Each April, communities across the country recognize National Child Abuse Prevention Month, a time dedicated to raising awareness about child abuse and neglect while encouraging individuals and organizations to work together to strengthen families and protect children.
At United Way of Greater Central Michigan, we know that creating a safer future for children starts with community support. That’s why we were proud to provide Matching Grants to both Isabella County Child Advocacy Center and Child Advocacy of Gratiot County — two organizations making a meaningful impact for children and families in Gratiot & Isabella counties every single day.
Through the generosity of community supporters, Child Advocacy of Gratiot County raised $10,159 during National Child Abuse Prevention Month. United Way proudly matched the first $10,000 of those donations, resulting in a total impact of $20,159 to support their important work serving children and families throughout Gratiot County.
“We’re excited to share that we successfully met our matching grant goal. What an incredible milestone for our organization and community! Matching campaigns are especially impactful for rural nonprofits like ours, and reaching this goal means we can expand our efforts to better serve children and families across Gratiot County. The funds raised through this match will directly strengthen our Child Abuse Prevention programming and help us address critical needs in our community. We are deeply grateful to United Way of Greater Central Michigan for making this opportunity possible, and to every donor who helped us get there. Your support truly made the difference. Thank you for helping us turn this match into meaningful impact!” shared Jennifer Stambaugh, President & CEO of Child Advocacy of Gratiot County.
Similarly, supporters of Isabella County Child Advocacy Center contributed an incredible $14,275. United Way matched the first $10,000 raised, bringing the total grant amount to $24,275 to help continue their mission of advocacy, support, and healing for local children.
“Thanks to United Way’s generous matching grant of up to $10,000 during National Child Abuse Prevention Month, our community came together to make an even greater impact for local children and families. Every dollar donated helps provide hope, healing, advocacy, and prevention services for children who need a safe place and supportive resources during difficult times. We are incredibly thankful for the partnership and support that helps us continue this important work throughout Isabella County,” shared Britnee Neitzke, President & CEO of Isabella County Child Advocacy Center.
These organizations provide critical services for children who have experienced abuse or neglect, offering safe spaces, advocacy, forensic interviews, family support, and connections to resources that help children begin the healing process. Their work not only supports children in moments of crisis but also helps build stronger, healthier communities for the future.
We are grateful to every donor, advocate, volunteer, and community member who contributed to these efforts throughout April. Together, we are helping ensure that children in our communities are seen, heard, protected, and supported.
