A Refreshed Space for Collaboration at Wilcox

Thanks to a generous $5,000 grant from the Gratiot County Community Foundation, the Wilcox Nonprofit Center now offers an updated conference room designed to better serve the organizations working to strengthen our community.

Owned and operated by United Way of Greater Central Michigan, the Wilcox Nonprofit Center provides affordable office space and shared resources for nonprofit organizations serving Gratiot County.

Completed at the end of May, the conference room renovation transformed the space into a more welcoming, functional, and collaborative environment. Fresh paint, comfortable new furnishings, modular conference tables, and a large smart TV have created a flexible meeting space that can easily adapt to a variety of needs—from board meetings and strategic planning sessions to trainings, presentations, and community collaborations.

On the morning of June 25, United Way of Greater Central Michigan celebrated the completion of the project with a special “sprinkle” event, welcoming ambassadors from the Gratiot Area Chamber of Commerce, staff from the Gratiot County Community Foundation, and fellow Wilcox Nonprofit Center tenants to see the refreshed space firsthand.

The improvements are already making a meaningful difference for organizations that regularly utilize the conference room.

Mona Hirson, Executive Director of Gratiot Emergency Housing Corporation, shared: “The renovated conference room enhances the level of professionalism and service we strive to provide to our clients, their families, and all of the activities our Board participates in. It is a huge asset to the building and the offices!"

Mike Meyers of Gratiot Adult Education has also experienced the benefits of the upgraded space. “We now have the ability to use the TV for videos and other technology aspects. I have already used it for a YouTube video on some math instructions for a student. The chairs are comfortable for students with issues. Tables are nice and easier to deal with on many aspects!"

These updates not only improve the experience for Wilcox tenants but also expand opportunities for collaboration among nonprofit organizations and community partners throughout Gratiot County. We are incredibly grateful to the Gratiot County Community Foundation for investing in a space that brings people together, fosters collaboration, and supports the important work happening every day within the Wilcox Nonprofit Center.

The conference room is available for community partners who are looking for a professional meeting space. Organizations interested in reserving the room can contact Eli Hall at eli@unitedwaygcm.org for availability and scheduling.

Together, we're creating spaces that help our community connect, collaborate, and make an even greater impact.
