On July 28, 2026, we were honored to celebrate the opening of United Way of Greater Central Michigan's new Greenville office with an Open House Celebration & Ribbon Cutting at 101 N. Lafayette Street in downtown Greenville.

The afternoon was filled with community members, partners, supporters, and local leaders who gathered to celebrate this exciting milestone. The Greenville Area Chamber of Commerce led the official ribbon cutting ceremony, marking the beginning of a new chapter for United Way in Montcalm & Ionia counties.

While this building is new to United Way, its legacy of serving the community stretches back decades. In 2002, Commercial Bank gifted the building to the Greenville Area Community Foundation (GACF), where it served as the foundation's home for more than twenty years. Lemont Renterghem played an instrumental role in securing the building for GACF, and today the center proudly bears his name in recognition of his visionary leadership and lasting impact on the Greenville community.

When GACF recently gifted the building to United Way of Greater Central Michigan, they passed along more than a physical space—they entrusted us with continuing a legacy of community service, collaboration, and investment in the people of Montcalm & Ionia counties.

“This is more than a building; it is an opportunity to better serve the community with a stronger physical presence," said Annie Sanders, President & CEO of United Way of Greater Central Michigan. “We're incredibly grateful for the generosity and trust that made this possible. This space allows us to deepen relationships, strengthen partnerships, and continue working alongside our community to create lasting impact across our region."

Having a dedicated office in downtown Greenville creates new opportunities to connect with local businesses, nonprofit partners, volunteers, and residents. It provides a welcoming place for conversations, collaboration, and building relationships that help strengthen our communities.

We're incredibly thankful to everyone who helped make this celebration possible. A special thank you to the Greenville Area Community Foundation for this generous gift and continued partnership, the Greenville Area Chamber of Commerce for hosting the ribbon cutting ceremony, Alison Barberi, Andrea Belding and Flat River Associates - Real Estate Collective, and Sun Title - Greenville for helping bring this transition to life.
